Katie Ridd, a two-time NCAA National Champion and All-American at Wake Forest, is in her first season as an assistant coach at American. Ridd graduated from Wake Forest in 2004 after serving as a three-year starter for the ACC power. She was named First Team All-America in her senior season (2003). She also received First Team All-ACC recognition in both her junior and senior years. Wake Forest reached the NCAA Final Four in each of her four playing seasons in Winston-Salem (2000-03) as Ridd helped the Deamon Deacons to NCAA National Championships in 2002 and 2003.

Tjerk van Herwaarden is the Technical director at the U. Maryland. Since Tjerk joined Maryland in 2005, the program has had many successes, 3 national championships and 3 ACC Championships. Tjerk is also serving as the assistant coach for the National Men’s team since 2006 and Head coach of the Mid Atlantic High Performance Teams.
Each week Tjerk will focus on different skills for both offensive and defensive play.

Sign up as an individual and play on our house team, or sign up with your high school team. New this year! Our league is growing and will now feature the opportunity to participate in either turf play or move onto the new style of play on the indoor NIT-style snap court. Teams can choose which league they want to play in – turf or snap. We are expecting most JV teams to play in the turf league, and the Varsity teams to elevate their level of play and move to the snap league. Field Hockey stick, mouthguards, shinguards are required. Indoor sticks are required for indoor snap league play, and indoor gloves are highly recommended. League shirt provided. Minimum 10 registered players per team.
Free League Open House: Wonder what indoor field hockey is all about? Come try it and play for free on Sunday, October 24 from 5-7 pm (Open House & League Sign-Up Night). We invite all high school players to bring your stick and experience indoor field hockey. Drop-in and join-in a game and experience play on both turf and snap court and experience both types of indoor play! If you haven’t yet purchased an indoor stick, we will have sticks for sale, and a handful of loaner sticks for use during the Open House.

New this year: Now in its third year, our league is moving to Sundays to provide easier access to more clubs! This league is for U16 and U19 club teams. Play is on NIT style snap surface with two 25 minute games on your scheduled weeks. Teams provide their own uniforms. Coaches: email us at getgood@championsfieldhouse.com to have your team added to the league to allow your players to register.
